GORDON RUSSELL

Gordon’s been teaching and organising young bands since 2002.  He spent 7 years playing guitar for Dr Feelgood, toured worldwide, composed songs and made 4 albums with them.  He also played for many years with successful pop rock duo Two Timers.  They  toured the UK and Europe regularly and recorded 4 CD’s.   Teaches beginners to intermediate and encourages pupils to be creative.   His experience will help give confidence in all aspects of playing and performing.

 

DAN DAVIES

Dan has been playing for 30 years and teaching guitar or over 15 years. Dan has tutored players at every level from complete beginners to seasoned professionals. Dan has a long history of studio and live work and currently plays with Sussex band Fullhouse and London based outfit The Rock Pins totalling in excess of 70 gigs every year. Specialising in the more technical areas of guitar Dan also assists pupils with their song writing and encourages a creative and progressive approach to guitar.

 

TERRY BICKERS

Terry has been involved in the provision of youth music in East Sussex for 15 years including Nicks Music Studios, Brighton Rock School Project, The Drive Prep School, Newlands School, Access To Music and Jam Brighton. This work has been primarily centered on guitar tuition, band work and organizing music events. Skills include helping students to develop their composing, arranging, rehearsal and performance. He also continues with his career as a performing musician playing with artists such as Pete Fij and The House Of Love.

 

MARK CRAWFORD

Mark has a BA Hons in Popular Music; He is currently projects manager at Access to Music. His band, Los Albertos, gigs all over the place, abroad and in the UK and at events like Glastonbury Festival. They’ve released 2 CD’s.

 

TUVAL SCHNEERSON

Tuval is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist performer, songwriter and producer. During his young career he has performed across the country in venues such as the Roundhouse, performed on stage with members of British Sea Power and Wire, recorded with producer John Praish (PJ Harvey), and supported acts such as UB40 at festivals. Over the last 6 years he has taught guitar and bass for beginners to intermediate, as well as running a home recording studio and assisting with songwriting, arrangement and performance. Tuval specialises in bringing out creativity, feel and personality from his students, in any style.

Drum Tutors

Justin Welch

In 1989 Justin studied drums with Francis Seriau, founder and director of Drum Tech. After a very short time he joined the Garage Band Spitfire and released 4 EPs and 1 album along with lots of touring.   In 1993 he formed the band Elastica with Justine Frischmann. Elastica went on to have great success, signing to Geffen records and selling nearly 2 million records worldwide and toured the world many times over. Their debut album was the fastest selling number 1 album in the UK of all time.

Justin has worked with some of the best producers and bands in the business, such as; Pulp, Suede. Blur, The Prodigy, Mark E smith, Steve Malkmus(pavement) Steven Duffy Alan Moulder Flood Steven Street plus many more,

Justin is an excellent teacher and teaches at all levels including Rockschool syllabus

JON PALLOT

Drums and percussion – Beginners to Advanced; 10 years’ teaching experience, also gigging and working with different bands including The Finds.

ROBERT DYLAN THOMAS

Robert has been drumming since the age of 11 and has been a professional drummer for the past ten years. In 2003 Robert formed popular Indie band The Maccabees with front man Orlando Weeks. The Maccabees went on to have great success signing to Fiction records and Universal. The band had a string of top 20 singles and albums, have toured all over the world and worked with some of the top producers in the business including Stephen Street. He then went on to form The Agitator who signed to Pointless Excitement and performed on the legendary Jools Holland show. Now a session drummer and plays with new alternative dance/indie outfit Loyal who have already had over a million plays with their first two singles on Spotify.

Robert has been teaching drums for four years. His teaching style is diverse and is catered for each individual student. He teaches at all levels including Rockschool syllabus.

 

 

SINGING & VOCAL TUTORS

 

SIGRID JAKOBSEN

Having attained a BA Hons in Professional Musicianship in vocals, and  PGCert in Higher education, Sig teaches all ages and abilities.

Sig started her career in the Netherlands where she recorded and self released three acoustic pop albums before the age of sixteen, and was subsequently invited to work with David Dramm at Amsterdam’s Studio 150 (where Paul Weller famously recorded his album Studio 150). Shortly thereafter, her song Goodnight to Russia was featured in the Tiger Award winning Dutch film Langer Licht. In 2006 Sig moved to Brighton and worked with countless bands, while running her own live music events company Somethin’ real promotions. In 2011 she found success with Brighton based hardcore/metal band White Light. She co-wrote and recorded an EP and mini album with the band, and received praise for her original and technically challenging vocal style in reviews of both live performances and recordings. Sig also recently performed on Enos’ album All Too Human on tracks Left for Dead, Obscured and most notably Collisions, as well as the soon to be released Enos single Sun Of a Gun.

Sig specialised in rock vocals, stage fright management, and songwriting, has taught vocals at the Metal Hammer Summer school three years running, and is currently working with her new band, teaching privately, and working with Jam Brighton.
